SOME NEWS PAPER ARTICLES FROM ST. PETE TIMES RECAP: (10th Season Game) FIVAY 20, CITRUS 28 The
Fivay Falcons flew into Citrus County soaring with confidence Friday night. But it didn't take long for them to realize they
had flown into a strong head wind in the Citrus Hurricanes. By the time the Falcons (7-3) got their bearings, the Hurricanes
(5-5) had put up 14 points in the first 11 minutes and held a 21-6 lead at the break. Fivay, however, emerged for the
second half a different team. Unfortunately three big penalties and two turnovers eventually grounded the Falcons. And none
was bigger than the final dagger that came with 58 seconds left in the game, when Citrus cornerback Paris Wilcox intercepted
Fivay quarterback Tyler Degen's pass in the end zone. The interception, which sealed a 28-20 win for Citrus, was exceptionally
sweet for Wilcox, who was playing in the final game of his prep career. The Hurricanes were led by Darius Chapes, who rushed
for a game-high 201 yards on 27 carries and two touchdowns. "We came into this game tonight extremely overconfident
and they knocked us around really good in the first half," Fivay coach Chris Taylor said. "Give them all the credit.
They came out and punched us straight in the mouth in that first half and it wasn't until then that we woke up. We fought
back and made it a football game in the second half." On Fivay's second possession of the third quarter, Degen
engineered an eight-play scoring drive that ended on a 1-yard touchdown run by Zach Russell
(11 carries for 79 yards). With the Falcons fighting to get back in the game the Hurricanes' special teams came up with a
blocked punt that was recovered by Kyle Tobin, who scampered in to the end zone to give Citrus a 28-12 lead. Fivay answered
on the ensuing kickoff when James Bullock broke containment and returned the ball to the Citrus 24. Five plays later Degan
forced his way into the end zone on a 1-yard run. The Falcons converted the two-point conversion and found themselves down
by just one score. With time running out Vic Taylor stripped the ball from a Citrus runner on the 37-yard line with
2:35 left. Degen delivered two great passes that gave the ball to Fivay in Citrus territory. When Davion Sutton broke free
on two big runs the Falcons appeared poised to score. Wilcox thwarted those plans when he read Degen's pass perfectly
and cut in front of the Falcons receiver in the end zone.
(9th Season Game) FIVAY 48, RIDGEWOOD
8 The Falcons' 48-8 defeat of Ridgewood on Friday plus
Zephyrhills' loss to Pasco sends them into the postseason as 5A-6 runnerup.Fivay (7-2, 6-1) opened
the scoring on the fourth play of the game, a 36-yard pass from Tyler Degen to Sean McKillen. The
Falcons made it 16-0 on the first play of their next possession as Degen found James Bullock for 46-yard score. The Rams (1-9, 1-6) got their only touchdown of the game on the following drive. The big play was a 47-yard pass
from Bob Peck to tight end Max Livingstone, who wrestled the ball from the defender. Livingstone, who leads the team in receiving,
caught a 15-yard pass for a touchdown a few plays later. But the Falcons responded with a score
on their next drive. Only two of Fivay's possessions in the first half did not result in touchdowns, and both were interceptions. Falcons running back Kyrie Rodriguez rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries in the first half, and
coach Chris Taylor decided to rest his first-string players in the second half. Davion Sutton
took over running back duties for the Falcons, finishing with 84 yards on nine rushes (8th Season Game) Fivay 48, Zephyrhills 42 The battle for the second playoff
spot in Class 5A, District 6 turned into a war Friday night. Fivay overcame a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit
to defeat Zephyrhills 48-42 in front of a raucous home crowd. “These kids never stopped believing,” Fivay
coach Chris Taylor said. “That’s what we’ve learned to do this season.” The Falcons (6-2), in
only their second season as a varsity program, were led by the three-headed offensive attack of tailback Kyrie Rodriguez,
quarterback Tyler Degen (17-of-24 for 206 yards, three touchdowns) and receiver James Bullock (15 catches, 167 yards, two
touchdowns). Leaning early and often on Rodriguez, the Falcons pounded the ball with the running game behind their workhorse.
The senior carried the ball a career-high 33 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns. But Zephyrhills (5-3) kept answering
with the big plays. Though the Bulldogs were outgained offensively, recorded only six first downs to 23 for Fivay and had
more than twice as many penalties, it was the speed of Jamal Roberts that kept them in it. Though Roberts rushed for
205 yards on only 14 carries, he also lost three fumbles. His touchdown runs of 62, 64 and 58 yards were achieved with speed
and many broken tackles. The Bulldog defense also capitalized on Falcon miscues. Among the four Fivay turnovers was
a fumble that Adrian Sanchez brought back 97 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Sanchez also brought a kickoff back
94 yards for another score. All of these big plays led to a 42-33 lead for Zephyrhills with just over five minutes left.
The lead wouldn’t derail Fivay. Rodriguez capped the next Falcon drive with a 9-yard touchdown run with three minutes
left. Taylor called for an onside kick at that point, and his team executed. The followup drive finished with
a 29-yard toss from Degen to Bullock for the go-ahead TD. “I just threw it off my back foot,” Degen said,
“and Bullock did what he always does. He came down with it.”
(7th Season Game) Pasco 59, Fivay 6 Pasco turned broken plays into touchdowns
and busted drives into points in Friday’s 59-6 win over Fivay during the Pirates’ homecoming and
senior night.Pasco (8-0, 5-0) stays in first place in District 5A-6 and handed the Falcons (5-2, 4-1) their first
district loss.A Fivay defense that had allowed no more than 17 points in a game all season made a stand early,
forcing a three and out on Pasco’s first drive. But the Falcons muffed the punt and the Pirates recovered, setting up
a 1-yard touchdown run by David Emmanuel.Pasco scored on every drive after that, recording almost as many touchdowns (eight)
as first downs (12) to record more than 50 points for the sixth week in a row. Junior Janarion Grant starred
in one of the top plays in Pasco’s highlight-reel season. Fivay’s second-quarter punt sailed high and short before
falling and bouncing at the Falcons 47. Everyone from both teams steered clear of it — except for Grant.“I just
made a go for it,” Grant said.He caught the ball on the bounce and sprinted 47 yards untouched into the end zone.“I
was flabbergasted by that,” said Emmanuel, who rushed 11 times for 145 yards. “I didn’t see him coming.”Grant
also scored on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Guy — one of Guy’s four of the night — and intercepted
a pass in the end zone. Senior Trey Dudley-Giles caught three touchdowns and rushed for another.Pasco got points even when
it set itself up for failure. A clipping penalty and two personal fouls turned first and goal from the 3 into first and goal
from its own 47. But after two long passes and a Fivay penalty, freshman Brandon Ray booted a 29-yard field goal to make it
31-0.The Pirates’ defense did its part, too, holding Fivay to 30 yards in the second half. The Falcons totaled more
than 10 yards on eight plays. Four of those were Pasco penalties.Fivay’s only score came on a 20-yard touchdown pass
from Tyler Degen to Andrew Meyer late in the first half, but the momentum didn’t last long. Emmanuel returned the ensuing
kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown. (6th Season Game) FALCONS 35 BEAT COBRAS 0......RECAP: Fivay (4-1, 3-0) used
a balanced attack on offense to roll to a Class 5A-District 6 win.
In the first half, it was the arm of Falcons
quarterback Tyler Degen that staked Fivay to an early lead.
The Falcons took the opening kickoff and went 62 yards
in six plays when Degen (138 yards passing) found receiver James Bullock on a fade route for 29 yards and a 7-0 lead.
On the ensuing possession, Hudson (0-5, 0-3) chewed up eight minutes behind the strong running of Haden Moyer (21
carries, 95 yards), but on a fourth down deep in Falcons territory, linebacker Willis Reeves came up with a sack of Hudson’s
James Caruso and Fivay took over.
On the next drive, Fivay mixed the run with the pass and it culminated with a
Zack Russell 5-yard touchdown run and a 14-0 lead. A Degen to Andrew Meyer touchdown pass closed out the
first-half scoring.
In the second half, Falcon tailback Brian Poinsette rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns
to produce the final margin.
With the win, the Falcons remained undefeated in 5A-6, tied with Pasco and Zephyrhills
atop the standings. (5th Season Game)FALCONS 23 BEAT WESLEY CHAPEL 14......Some Highlights Peeps:

(4th Season Game) Fivay 21, Anclote 14, Final After a disappointing
last-second loss to open the season, Fivay is starting to look like the team many predicted to contend for a state playoff
berth in its first full season of varsity football.
Bryan Poinsette, filling in for the injured Kyrie Rodriguez,
carried 21 times for a game-high 105 yards, and Tyler Degen completed 11 of 17 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown to lead
Fivay.
"We're moving in the right direction," Fivay coach Chris Taylor said. "We got what we're
looking for, balance in our offense and another excellent game from our defense. We want to be able to throw and pass, and
right now our defense is flying to the ball."
Degen connected on scoring passes of 19 yards to Kevin Faulkner
and 10 yards to Sean McKillen to give Fivay a 14-0 halftime lead.
Chris Gregory returned the second-half kickoff
95 yards for Anclote's first score, but Willis Reeves answered right back by returning the ensuing kickoff 85 yards to push
the lead to 21-6.
Willie Barrett, who led Anclote with 43 yards on seven carries, scored from the 14 to close the
gap to seven midway through the third quarter. 3rd week OFF BYE-WEEK FIVAY FALCONS 2nd Seaon Game) Football: Fivay 21, Springstead 14 RECAP:Fivay
evened its record Friday night, pulling out a slim 21-14 win over Springstead to earn its first victory at home. After
the Eagles missed a late field-goal attempt, the Falcons drove 80 yards with running back Kyrie Rodriguez leading the way. Rodriguez
totaled 211 yards on 26 carries, including a 6-yard touchdown that tied the score at 7 with just more than 10 minutes left
in the second quarter. Springstead opened the scoring early. On the first play of their first possession, Eagles sophomore
running back Kevin Bedford went 60 yards for a 7-0 lead. After Fivay tied the game, Springstead's next possession lasted nearly
eight minutes. The drive ended on a run by sophomore quarterback Tyler Mahla from 9 yards out. On the ensuing kickoff,
Fivay fumbled and Springstead (1-1) recovered near midfield. On the next play, the Eagles gave possession right back with
just more than two minutes left in the half. Fivay capped off the 65-yard drive, in one minute and 18 seconds, on a
run up the middle by sophomore Zack Russell from 4 yards out. The touchdown was set up by senior wideout
James Bullock's leaping catch on a 28-yard gain, setting up first and goal. Springstead opened the second half
with another nearly eight-minute drive but could not capitalize. Springstead kicker Scott Baker missed a 36-yard field-goal
attempt that would have given the Eagles a late lead. Instead, Fivay went 80 yards on its next drive. Rodriguez had
six carries for 57 yards on that drive. Junior quarterback Tyler Degen connected with Colin Hahn from 6 yards out to take
the 21-14 lead. Degen finished with 101 yards with the one touchdown and one interception. (1st Season GameFALCONS (14) VS.
RIVER RIDGE (17) RECAP:) Following
Fivay's spring game against River Ridge, Falcons coach Chris Taylor knew there was plenty of work to do on defense if his
team was going to be a serious contender in Class 5A-District 6 The Royal Knights ran up-and-down
the field in that game — scoring 34 points and yielding 134 yards and five touchdowns to the Royal Knights' Austin Schwarz.
Taylor got a good look at just how far his defense had developed when the Falcons and Royal Knights hooked up again to begin
the season. River Ridge won 17-14 on a 53-yard field goal by Phil Molina with 1:22 remaining.
